Nexium helps in reducing the amount of acid produced within the stomach. Generic Nexium is also used for treating symptoms of gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD). If you miss a dose of Nexium or Esomeprazole, take it as soon as possible. However, if it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and go back to your regular dosing schedule. Do not double doses. Also it is used to treat conditions involving excessive stomach acid such as Zollinger-Ellison syndrome. It can also be used to quicken the healing process of erosive esophagitis.
Patients suffering from gastric ulcer caused by infection with helicobacter pylori or by the use of nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs can be given Generic Nexium.
Generic Nexium can also be used for other medical purposes than those listed above.
